Sue Hill Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies, who are an independent Christian mission research centre, based in Oxford, UK. They support leaders through education, publications and research. Their vision is to see the global church equipped to participate in the realisation of God’s transforming mission through research and applied scholarship.

 

In order to do this, they have access to significant library resources both on their own premises, through Middlesex

University and throughout the Oxford University libraries in order to serve our 100+ PhD students, research scholars (pre-and post-doctoral), research associates and staff.

 

They are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Specialist Subject Library and Digital Resources Manager, to manage all physical and electronic library resources to fulfil student and scholars’ needs and to lead the management and development of all library and digital resources.

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

  • Develop a 5-year strategy for the library and digital resources and lead the implementation

  • Develop and maintain the physical library through acquisitions, cataloguing, indexing, culling, shelving management

  • Develop and maintain relationships and coordinate access to the Bodleian Libraries, Middlesex University Library and other mission & theological libraries

  • Respond effectively to the research needs of all library users, including Bodleian readers, distance learners, and independent researchers.

  • Provide training resources available for students and scholars for accessing and using the tools and resources available

  • Chair the library management team

  • Deliver timely communications on the library and digital resources to key stakeholders

  • Provide a physical accessible presence in the library for all users

  • Identify the most relevant resources relevant to Mission studies and enable access for all users

  • Manage and monitor library budget, and produce financial reports

  • Participate in appropriate professional organisations and training activities such as ABTAPL, Oxford Committee of College Librarians and Bodleian Staff Development

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • A relevant Librarian qualification

  • Multi-cultural sensitivity and understanding and ability to work and communicate effectively with a multi-cultural student body, alumni, faculty and various academic institutions and mission organizations

  • Understanding and proficiency in research methodologies and tools including online digital research databases.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and online

  • Proficiency with cataloguing software

  • Detail-oriented, collegial team contributor

  • Flexible with the ability to manage simultaneous projects
