About the company

Our Higher Education client in London is looking for a Senior Records Manager for a Part Time, 11 month-contract to cover for a Maternity Leave. This position will assist the Head of Records and Archives in the provision of an effective and professional service, leading on the development and support of a culture of high-quality Records Management across the organisation

What you’ll be doing

Key Tasks

  • To lead on the development, implementation and support of systems, processes and practices which facilitate compliance with the requirements of information legislation, including retention schedules and secure records destruction
  • Work with the Head of University Records and Archives to continue to improve and embed good records management practice and legislative compliance across the organisation
  • Deliver specialist professional guidance, training and support as the technical expert on corporate records issues in line with legislative requirements and business needs
  • Take lead responsibility to develop and implement an organisation-wide programme to manage the organisation’s born-digital corporate records with a solution based on Microsoft Office 365, including the line management of project staff.
  • Manage the relationship with the organisations off-site records storage contractors through the fulfilment of service level agreements and regular statistical reporting
  • Identification and appraisal of corporate records for institutional archives, making recommendations to the Head of Records and Archives and following up as appropriate
  • Work closely with the Information Compliance Manager to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the organisations information compliance strategy to ensure legislative compliance and business efficiency and effectiveness, collaboratively developing and delivering guidance and training as required
  • Take a proactive role as a member of appropriate groups and committees on behalf of the Archives and Records team, participating in and/or leading meetings and working groups with a view to developing and providing technical guidance to inform on decision-making
  • Contribute to general staff training and development programmes as appropriate
  • Keep up to date with current issues and trends in the sector and maintain appropriate professional contacts in order to inform your practice and contribution to team activities
  • Carry out any other duties as appropriate as may be required by the Head of Records and Archives

To be considered for this role you will require:

Essential

  • A recognised, professional qualification in Archives / Records Management or Information Management
  • Practical experience that demonstrates relevant experience and skills in Archives and Records Management
  • Proven track records in the provision and support of Archives / Records Management services
  • A broad and deep knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements and best standards practice in Archives / Records management
  • Experience of developing Records Management policies, reports and operating procedures
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience of Microsoft Office 365 / Sharepoint / Cloud based platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills working with Senior staff across organisations
  • Strategical thinker able to make independent decisions
  • Ability to manage and prioritise time and workload
  • Time and workload management skills
