About the company
A London based, higher education client has a requirement for a Part Time Library Assistant to help facilitate and
maintain consistent high standards to all students and faculty. All library users must be able to automatically rely
upon the service as a source of help and guidance, this should never be in any doubt, and the Library Assistant role
holder plays a key part in this.
What you’ll be doing
· Staffing the Library information desk, including using the library management system to issue/return materials and deal with fines
· Assist users with a wide range of library requests
· Delivering a consistently high level of service to Library users and following departmental procedures on student incidents, complaints and disputes
· Shelving returned Library materials, shelf tidying and maintenance of Dewey Decimal System order
· Physical processing of new Library materials, maintenance of ebooks, creating and editing interactive reading lists
· Liaising with daytime staff via handover reports and email
· Opening and closing the Library according to departmental procedures including locking the Library at closing time, ensuring security of the collection
· Liaising with other departments where necessary and reporting system or equipment failures to the IT helpdesk
· Ensuring the security of the collection by following the incident reporting procedures
· Maintaining a tidy and professional appearance of the Library
Why you’ll be hired

· Knowledge of working within an HE environment beneficial
· An understanding of a VLE in higher education
