About the company

Our client, a professional membership organisation has a requirement for a Temporary Information Skills Specialist

to support the Library and Archive Service’s information and literacy provision to its members, with a focus on

literature searching and library teaching / learning

 

Flexibility will be required as this role requires occasional Saturday work with time off in lieu

 

What you’ll be doing

·         Undertake literature searches, reviews and information support for members and staff, including expert advice on literature searching techniques

·         Deliver teaching sessions to members in a variety of formats including online and in-person, one to one and group teaching workshops

·         Develop and facilitate teaching to support members and staff on information and digital literacy topics, including literature searching and reference management

·         Develop teaching and learning resources across different formats to enhance the information and digital literacy skills of members

·         Assist with the delivery of excellent customer service in line with the Library and Archive Services customer standards

·         Answer enquiries from members, staff, and public about information and digital literacy

·         Contribute to the development and operational delivery of subject guides and reading lists, including providing literature searches to support their creation and updates

·         Supervise the day-to-day work of the Information Literacy Assistant including administration and promotion of information literacy development sessions and supporting literature searching

·         Monitor and feedback on developments in the health information sector, libraries, and information and digital literacies to ensure we continually review and improve our service

 

Why you’ll be hired

To be considered for this role you will require:

·         Degree or higher qualification in librarianship / information studies or equivalent

·         Experience of delivering literature searches

·         Experience of providing in person and remote teaching for individuals and groups (workshops)

·         Excellent service delivery including customer service

·         Knowledge of using a variety of software in creating and delivering presentations and support guides

·         Knowledge of supporting education courses including working with VLEs

·         Excellent communication skills in all formats
