About the company

Our client is a network of charities throughout the UK, that assist with advice and information to the general public ensuring that their consumer rights are upheld. They are now seeking to recruit an Information Governance Officer to support the design and delivery of good data protection practice.

What you’ll be doing

Within this role you will work with the Information Governance Team to support the aims of the organisation and create a culture of shared responsibility for privacy risk management.

You’ll help develop and support organisational policies and processes that ensure the compliance to Data Protection Law and good Information Management practice. You may lead on or support workstreams to support the General Data Protection regulation, DPA 2018 in order to meet business objectives.

  • Assist in managing Information Governance knowledge and best practice
  • Ensure best practice and up to date knowledge with ICO guidance and EU Data Protection board
  • Support the Information Governance Manager and Senior Information Governance Officer with the implementation of the service and its associated plans
  • Give advice on the privacy risks of projects and changes
  • Support the team in the creation of appropriate Information Governance training materials and resources for Stakeholders
  • Support the team in planning and implementing communications to ensure that all Stakeholders are aware of their current obligations
  • Promote the benefits of Information Governance
  • Support policies, guidance and processes relating to the maintenance of Information Asset Registers
  • Identify, record and escalate Privacy Risks
  • Provide advice on Information Governance queries from teams within the organisation
  • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Act as a point of triage for incident reporting
  • Coaching and mentoring team members

Why you’ll be hired

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • Qualifications in or proven ability to apply GDPR and DPA 2018 to meet business objectives
  • Experience of designing and delivering Data Protection, Information Governance and Information Assurance to meet business objectives
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of practical consequences of the GDPR and DPA 2018
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats across all levels within the business
  • Knowledge of Information Security Management principles
  • Experience of leading project workstreams
  • Proven IT ability
  • Willingness to travel with the UK and occasionally to work unsocial hours to meet deadlines
