About the company

A specialist commercial organisation has a current job opportunity for a Curator. This position is based in London and available in the first instance on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

What you'll be doing

Key job responsibilities will include managing the organisation's heritage collections including art, furniture and coins. This may start with an audit of the collection and assets. You will work to check and update asset records, location records, enhance the catalogue, descriptions, accuracy, quality and accessibility.

The post-holder will take responsibility for the conservation and display of items and their loan to/from the collection.

There may be special project work such as investigating barcoding.

Why you’ll be hired

To be considered for this position you must have substantial curation and conservation experience, in addition to a relevant qualification such as a Museum Studies, History or Arts Administration degree or similar.

You will have managed collections using a database or archive management system such as Axiell CALM, and be familiar with Museum databases.

You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that will enable you to effectively interact with colleagues across the organisation.
