Sue Hill
Managing Director

My aims with Sue Hill Recruitment are to offer the best service possible to clients and candidates; to grow and encourage team members, create a happy and yet successful work environment and also of course to make a profit but not at the expense of any of the preceding points.

I am very proud of what we have achieved with the assistance of an excellent team in the last eight years of business. I started this company in January 1998 by working from home (around the dining room table as I always say) and soon had a small team working with me there. In late 1999 it became obvious that for the sake of the company and sanity at home we needed to launch out and find an office. In 2004 we took on another floor in the building and increased our staffing levels by almost 100%. Our sales regularly show an increase on each previous year with a respectable profits that are be re-invested in the business. We are self financing which gives us a stable base and keeps costs down. I take pride in paying the majority of our suppliers well within 30 days.

At the outset I did not want to just focus on one aspect of library and information recruitment, nor did I wish to restrict our activities to London or the South East. I am delighted to say that we have clients in Wales, Scotland and throughout the UK who use our services regularly. We work effectively with the private and public sector throughout the UK. We have a Midlands office, a representative in the North West of England and an excellent partnership with The One Umbrella in Australia and SWIMRS in New Zealand. When you click though the information on team members you will note that they bring an excellent mix of skills and knowledge of our market. Our temporary workers now number well over 100 every week and this continues to increase steadily. We work with many third parties to provide our niche recruitment skills to their clients.

I have lived in the UK for over thirty years and my background is firmly in the provision of services to the information sector, something I have been doing since 1974. I recommend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) highly for the knowledge that it brings and the networks it opens doors to. We now offer the chance to attend CPD events to our temporary workers. It was with the greatest of pleasure that I accepted the award of an Honorary Fellowship from the Chartered Institute of Information Professionals and more recently Fellowship of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation.

In my spare time I sail, have recently tried canal boats and support Chelsea FC. New Zealanders should of course be rugby aficionados which I am - but the lure of Stamford Bridge every second week is strong!
