Marketing your skills

Suzanne CDG
I received a warm welcome last night from the CILIP Sussex group in Haywards Heath where I was invited to speak about marketing your skills, looking at both internal and external job applications. Thank you to Abi Luthmann for organising the event – one of several CPD events organised by the group each year. It was great to see the delegates chatting before and afterwards, sharing hints and tips. Several people felt able during the presentation to give examples of their experiences and I think it's really useful to hear how colleagues and peers have dealt with situations like unusual interview questions or tricky application forms. It makes you realise that everyone experience similar issues.

Is this something you would be interested in hearing about? Why not get together with a group of colleagues or local info pros and put on your own CPD evening? A great skill to market to employers!

 • : This was a very useful event - Suzanne imparted much information about all aspects of marketing your skills, from internal networking, to preparing a cv, to interview skills. One important skill is the ability to present to an audience, and this Suzanne herself did very well - informal but knowledgeable, nicely delivered, and some good stories along the way. As she pointed out, input from the audience helped to underline many of her own points. A link to my own review and photos from the event can be found at
