About the company

Scientific charity in central London has a five month temporary role for a library professional with knowledge of serials and Excel wizardry.

What you'll be doing

The organisation is undertaking a review of its serials collection. This role is pivotal in gathering data on the library's print and electronic serial publication collections and e-resources. You will be using the LMS, Sierra, and will manipulate large amounts of data in Excel. Working closely with the Collections Development Librarians your role will be to import data into spreadsheets and cross-reference with materials/resources online and in print. Numeracy skills and understanding are required in order to successfully work with financial information, doing calculations and formatting data.

Why you’ll be hired

One of the goals of the project is to look at spend and work out the value of resources. They are looking for someone who is happy to make suggestions and offer creative ideas, testing different approaches and sometimes taking a step back to assess the best way to progress. There will be an element of research involved as you look at how other libraries manage and hold their serials. As well as being a whizz with Excel, you'll be an effective communicator and have knowledge of serials.
