About the company

Science and engineering organisation based close to Cambridge is looking for an Information Scientist with excellent abstracting and indexing skills.

What you'll be doing

Abstracting and indexing is what you'll be doing for around 80% of your time in this role, producing a bibliographic database and providing literature searches. You'll be selecting articles to go on the database and answering more complex enquiries. As the information service continues to develop, you will be involved in reviewing sources and structuring databases.

Why you’ll be hired

You'll need to have some understanding of science and/or engineering and complex technical language in order to be a successful and collaborative member of this team. As such, a background (degree or experience) in a physical science or engineering discipline is required, as well as proven experience in an information / library role. Of particular value would be German language skills; likewise Chinese, Japanese or Russian. Someone who likes a challenge and is happy to have a go at languages would fit in very well here.

Proven skills in literature searching are essential, as is an analytical mindset. If you're interested by technology, the subject matter here will keep you engaged and challenged.

Why you should apply

Described as a "very collaborative atmosphere", the recruiting manager describes the organisation as "mission-driven." The information team serves everyone across the organisation and is highly valued by senior management. Based on a research park outside Cambridge this organisation brings together an eclectic and diverse mix of disciplines and people, with lots of opportunities to network and to learn.

Contact Suzanne Wheatley for more information - suzanne.wheatley@suehill.com / 020 7378 5459. Application is by CV and covering letter and the closing date for applications is 19 April.
