It started with AKISS…

It's my pleasure to introduce a very special guest blog today from the lovely Holly @ASLIB – read on for an exciting offer for friends of SHR!

…well,
that’s not entirely true but it certainly does have a ring to it!

ASLIB is well known as a long standing membership
association for information professionals. 2014 will mark ASLIB’s 90th
birthday and like many other associations, ASLIB has had to adapt to meet the
ever changing needs of its community. Since the acquisition by the Emerald
Group in 2010, ASLIB has listened to the needs of members and one thing we hear
consistently is the importance of networking.
So, over the last 2 years we have hosted a number of networking events in
London and decided to take it to the next level in 2013 by hosting our very own
information management conference.

And so AKISS was born.

AKISS – ASLIB’s Knowledge and Information Strategy Summit
will take place at the British Library on the 5th and 6th
of December 2013. There is a list of high-calibre speakers and chairs confirmed
so far including:  Roly Keating (The British Library), Neeli Kroes (European Commission) and Euan Semple to
name a few. A full programme which includes a complete list of speakers is
available online http://bit.ly/1b2dm3I

The AKISS objective is to bring together leading, innovative
speakers, delegates and a conference committee who have successfully led
projects which have delivered significant value, into one interactive community.
We strongly believe AKISS will be a conference with a difference as we put
delegates at the centre of the agenda. The summit will not follow a traditional
conference format and delegates will be able to participate and engage in a
range of workshops, panel sessions and open debates.

We have received a lot of AKISS support so far from the
community and we are delighted to have Sue Hill Recruitment as our Development
Partner for the summit.

As a very
special AKISS partner, ASLIB would like to extend an invitation to the wider
SHR network to attend both days and the gala diner which is being held at the
prestigious Senate House,  for the extremely
generous rate of £300 plus VAT . This special rate is only available by
contacting the ASLIB team directly. The standard early bird rate is £476.

I look
forward to seeing many of you in December.
