Continuing Professional Development

At Sue Hill Recruitment we believe strongly in the benefits of Continuing Professional Development. We would like to extend the opportunity to attend professional meetings to our temporary workers throughout the UK.

Also, it was a valuable opportunity to meet legal information professionals who share the same issues and problems as library information professionals in other sectors. I found this was event very beneficial and hope to attend further events in the near future to widen my knowledge.”

What is a Qualifying Event?

Please click on the link to find a list of specialist interest groups for the library and information sector. If you know of an event organised by a group in your area that is not on this list, please do submit the information to us for consideration.

How does it work?

  • We will pay for events up to a cost of £40.00. The £40.00 can cover the joining fee for an organisation to take advantage of free events for members.
  • Events MUST be booked through Sue Hill Recruitment by Tina McGarvey.
  • A maximum of one event per person per year.
  • Requests to attend events will be allocated on a first come, first served basis each month.
  • You MUST be in a temporary contract with SHR&S (any number of hours per week is acceptable) when the request is made. However, if the event is to be held after you leave that is acceptable.
  • You can attend events that cost more than £40.00, but you will be expected to pay the difference.
  • If you book an event and do NOT go, then you will be asked to refund the money to SHR&S.
  • Requests to attend events should be addressed to Tina McGarvey or call on 020 7378 5468.
  • We will undertake to let you know if you have been successful within 24 hours of receiving your request.

What if I want to go to a CPD event that is not on the above approved list?

Please submit a request to Tina McGarvey giving the name of the event, the organising group and the costs. This will be forwarded to the Sue Hill Recruitment Management Team who will make a decision as to suitability.

How will I find out about events?

Where possible we will alert you to events that we know of, but it will pay to do your own research as well as we cannot keep up to date with everything that is on throughout the UK. A good place to look would be the any of the group web sites link or freepint events and the web sites of the groups and organisations listed above.
