Candidate Testimonials

Alice Corble – Senior Library Assistant

Victoria is an excellent professional consultant in library and information sector recruitment, with high standards, a friendly and engaging manner, and good attention to detail. She has served my needs very well as someone who has achieved a permanent contract and promotion via my initial temp contract with Sue Hill. She also went out of her way to advise me on a dilemma when I needed support, taking care to follow up and maintain the human face of recruitment.

Colin Sweett – Project and Public Engagement Manager

Jeremy and Sue Hill have been fantastic in helping me establish my library career in the UK. I arrived from Australia in 2012 and within a couple of weeks Jeremy had found me my first job. I went on to work a number of contract posts through Sue Hill and appreciated the diversity of roles they provided me with. I have always found Jeremy to be very professional and supportive. I can’t recommend Jeremy and Sue Hill highly enough.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you for putting me through for the Kings College Job months ago. If it wasn’t for you then I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work for such a great place. And now that I am permanent, it’s a huge relief and I’m so glad to be working here. I want to thank you for everything that you’ve done for me and I will definitely recommend your agency to friends and family. Joey Sheffield – Researcher

Jeremy worked with me when I was a student at City University. He was very prompt and thorough about helping to find a suitable match for me in my field and helped to ensure that communication between myself and the client was beneficial. Jeremy was very well informed and I knew that I could always count on him for the latest information about the field.

Steven Walker – Information and Knowledge Specialist

Jeremy Clarke is a first class recruitment consultant.

He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the information and project management sectors. Jeremy is skilled and adept at placing people in the right positions that enables both organisations and individuals to flourish.

He found me a temporary Information Management role at the Open University in Milton Keynes for six months in January 2015. The opportunity allowed me to draw on my SharePoint, information and staff management experience at one of Britain’s leading universities.

Thanks to Jeremy’s sixth sense and shrewd judgement I’m now embarking upon a challenging web based digital role with one of the United Kingdom’s leading charities, based in London.

Sincere thanks for all your endeavours.

Geoff Gray – Corporate Information and Records Manager

I have only known Jeremy for a short time but in that time I cannot speak more highly of him, especially the way he built a rapport between myself and my then future employer. Hearing praise also from my HR department of the dealings he had with them speaks volumes for his professionalism and approach. I will certainly refer friends to Jeremy and his colleagues at Sue Hill as the first port of call.

Folu Ojutalayo – Librarian

I registered with Sue Hill back in 2013 and I’ve been dealing with Jeremy Clarke since then. The fact is that we’ve never met physically but he treated me as if he’s known me for a very long time. His professional approach to my queries is remarkable. I believe he has a hidden talent outside his core profession. I also see him as a counselor, he is very helpful, supportive and psychologically prepares you for interviews. Jeremy is an invaluable asset to Sue Hill, I believe he will go very far in the organisation.

Sharon Messenger – Royal College of General Practitioners

Sue Hill Recruitment have been an enormous influence on my archival career since 2009. They have, and will, look after me from ‘cradle to grave’ throughout my professional career. Back in the early days as a trainee archive student at UCL Jeremy was extremely helpful in helping me organise an archive trainees group meeting at the Wellcome. He freely offered his time, gave us all an inspirational talk (which we all still remember) and then unbelievably took the time to look over everyone’s CVs and offer individual advice on ways to improve our career options whilst studying and choosing placements.

Less than two years later Jeremy and Suzanne were there again dealing with a nervous newly qualified graduate. Inspiring me and filling me with confidence they found me my first role at the RCGP which eventually was made permanent. They continue to be there for me during challenging periods and most recently, Suzanne helped me recruit a fantastic Records Manager here at the College. Suzanne was an absolute star. Through investing time and her infectious energy she was able to come up with the perfect set of candidates for the job that made it almost impossible to make a selection. I have also benefitted from continued professional development through a fabulous free training session and networking opportunity and most importantly the knowledge that they will be there for me for the rest of my career. Thank you so much for being such a fun, friendly and professional team. I look forward to working with you until my retirement!

♦ ♦ ♦

Claire Woodlock – Information Officer

Jeremy was extremely responsive, friendly and helpful in arranging my current contract. When I am ready for my next contract, my first phone call will be to Jeremy!

♦ ♦ ♦

Philippe Dirven – Associate Researcher

Jeremy has been great to deal with when I was looking to find a job. He’s been very forward and direct with me about any opportunities and linked me to a great job at the end of it.

Jeremy always made time for a call or meeting to discuss potential career opportunities and what direction to move into. He also looked further ahead in the sense that he was happy to discuss what my current role would mean for me in the future job market. All of which I think are essential skills for a recruiter to have.

Moritz Schick – Researcher

I got to know Jeremy in early 2011, when I tried to secure my first employment in the information and library sector after graduating with a Master in Information Science from City University. Because of the recession my job hunt had not not going well and my confidence was at rock-bottom, when I registered with Sue Hill. As Jeremy handled my first application via the agency,  he struck me as very supportive and encouraging, while at the same time scrutinizing my CV to make sure that I fulfilled the necessary qualifications for the role. Despite attending an interview (which felt like a huge achievement after months of writing applications), I did not succeed, but Jeremy not only provided me with plenty of detailed and positive feedback on the interview, but within a couple of days was able to offer me a temporary position with another employer. This temporary stop-gap eventually evolved into a full-time permanent staff position. While still working as a temp, Jeremy was in regular contact with me to make sure that I am okay in my role and to keep me informed about current job opportunities at other companies. I always felt that Jeremy was really interested in helping his clients progress, instead of getting them into the first job available and then forgetting about them (my past, pre-Sue Hill experience of working with recruitment agencies).

Since being permanent staff I have been managing on several occasions temporary researchers of Sue Hill. All of the researchers were excellently vetted and adopted very well to the challenges of their roles. Again Jeremy was regularly in contact to make sure that I was happy with his clients and looking for feedback to pass onto them.

In short: Jeremy is the best recruitment agent I ever worked with.

Becky Cooper – Library Assistant

I approached Sue Hill Recruitment as a trusted recommendation from a colleague. Anxious with my existing contract completing; the team at Sue Hill reassured me of employment, promptly arranging two suitable interviews within the week. Shortly succeeding the interviews, the team were able to offer me a temporary assignment, with the possibility for extension. I settled in quickly to a professional yet a friendly environment; recently accepting an extension in my position. I would highly recommend Sue Hill Recruitment for their attentive ability to guide and care for employees when progressing throughout their career.

♦ ♦ ♦

Louise Dalsgaard – Knowledge Manager

I had the pleasure of working with Jeremy when I was looking for a new job and he was attentive and helpful throughout the entire process. He took the time to review my background and to get a good understanding of what I was looking for. He then offered constructive feedback on how to improve my CV and made sure that I was well prepared for the interviews he set up for me. He followed up when he said he would and generally made the job-hunting process much easier.

Jeremy is clearly an experienced recruiter who provides an approachable but professional service and I can only recommend him.

Robin Hemmings – Taxonomist

Over several years, Suzanne has suggested and successfully placed me in a series of excellent roles, both temporary and permanent, all of which contributed seamlessly to my career development.
Her ability to consistently offer relevant and pragmatic career advice, and her incisive ability to match opportunities and clients shows a clear understanding of individual clients’ skills, strengths, and aspirations. She has a comprehensive understanding of the information and recruitment marketplaces.
I have always found Suzanne’s advice and attention to be invaluable: she offers pragmatic and relevant suggestions, positive encouragement, and always suggests appropriate and relevant roles. She sees her clients as unique people and takes on board each of their career stories
I would recommend any information professional to contact Suzanne and her team, whether they are looking for short-term guidance or holistic career development.

Khumo Dohrau – Information Specialist

I met Jeremy Clarke at Sue Hill Recruitment as a job seeker. Jeremy is very professional and empathetic when dealing with candidates. He always approached me with positions that closely match my skills and experience; and provided excellent briefing about the job responsibilities and benefits of the job in question. Jeremy is friendly and not too “pushy”; it was always a pleasure working with him as a job seeker.

Overall, I had a positive experience at Sue Hill since 2002, I have always been successful in most of the positions they have put me forward as a candidate.

Katie Espley – Records Manager

I had a great recruitment experience with Sue Hill Recruitment, thanks to Victoria. Victoria was my first point of contact with Sue Hill. In our initial discussions, I was impressed by Victoria’s knowledge of the records and information management sector and felt that she really understood my employment needs too. Clearly she did because she matched my needs to a fantastic job opportunity in my chosen sector, arranged an interview and I got the job! During the recruitment process, Victoria answered all my questions promptly and was always helpful and friendly; even getting in touch to see how I was getting on once I’d started. Many thanks Victoria!

Ann Brew – Librarian

I have been placed into both permanent and temporary jobs by Sue Hill over a period of six years, and Jeremy has been my main contact. He is reliable and will always return calls and emails promptly. He has a good understanding of what skills I have and what areas I’m trying to develop, but also is adept in not pushing me into jobs where I feel I wouldn’t do well. Thanks to his encouragement, I’ve applied for positions where I’ve learned new skills and then carried these new skills forward into other jobs. I would always consider any role Jeremy put me forward for, as I know he understands what my skills and preferences are, and he wouldn’t waste my time. Thanks to his professionalism and enthusiasm, I’ve been happy to encourage other colleagues to sign up with Sue Hill – he’s redefined what I expect from employment agencies and I don’t think I could settle for anything less now.

I would recommend him unequivocally.

♦ ♦ ♦

Graham Hurford – Catalouger

In 17 years of temping I have had a better working relationship with you than with any other of the numerous agents that I’ve dealt with. I can think of no instance where I have had a bad relationship but I think your informality has made it easier for me to say what I really felt about a prospective role and afterwards how I felt about the assignment. Even though your job might be described as trying to fit pegs into appropriately-shaped holes, you always gave me the feeling of being “on my side”.  It’s a good trick.

♦ ♦ ♦

Emily Hammond – Library Assistant

Thank you both for your hard work on my behalf over the last year and a half.  I now have a permanent post and I am absolutely clear that without the time and effort you put into finding me such great temporary posts I would not have been appointed to a permanent post.

♦ ♦ ♦

Bina Chauhan – Librarian

♦ ♦ ♦

Barbara Norrey – Library Services Manager

Jeremy has been my point of contact at Sue Hill Recruitment on several occasions, both as a recruiting manager and as a job-seeker. I can honestly say that, without fail, whilst dealing with everything in a friendly manner, he has been completely professional, conscientious, polite, and helpful. One of his key strengths are his communication skills, consulting me and keeping me up-to-date at all times. When things did not go smoothly, he showed infinite patience and worked hard to resolve all the problems that inevitably arise when dealing with large organisations and HR / Finance departments etc. He provided me with all the information I needed and steered me through the whole process, making it effortless on my part.

He is experienced in the field of recruiting which has given him an innate capacity to match organisations and roles with the right employees. He has also demonstrated that he can diversify through studying and would therefore, I think, embrace development, and innovation in any field.
For all these reasons I would not hesitate to recommend him in any capacity – for he is a very intelligent man, and also a very kind one.

Jeremy was my point of contact at Sue Hill Recruitment and managed the communication and process in a very professional, welcoming and polite manner. Jeremy is definitely the most pleasant, helpful and kind recruiter I have ever worked with.

It is not often the case in the recruitment industry that you get the feeling that the recruiter actually cares about the case and has a passion for matching your skills with the position. This was definitely the case with Jeremy. Jeremy was extremely polite and constructive in all his communication and took time for calls and questions always responding quickly despite all his workload. During the time that I was in contact with Jeremy I got very convinced about his deep expertise and knowledge in recruitment and his social intelligence.

I can highly recommend Jeremy for anyone looking for excellent quality in any recruitment and communication services.

♦ ♦ ♦

Andrew Grave – Trainer

Jeremy contacted me about a short-term opportunity at the University of Greenwich. It was not an industry sector that I had worked in before but Jeremy had identified my skills as a good match to the position.
